March 25, 2010 - OnmiSense Mobile, from Zephyr Technology Corporation, is a development platform and application suite which enables remote vital sign monitoring on mobile smart phones. OnmiSense Mobile works with Zephyr’s professional series Bluetooth BioHarness and consumer series HxM chest straps to wirelessly deliver vital sign information to smart phones. Working with its partners, Zephyr’s technology has the ability to automatically push this vital data to “the internet,” and, when combined with GPS data collected by a mobile phone, offers authorized viewers unprecedented visibility into both the location and health status of remote individuals.
OnmiSense Mobile is a web-enabled platform, designed to support a broad range of applications including simple heart rate monitoring for the fitness enthusiast to complete vital sign and performance status monitoring required for fitness and training by professional athletes, first responders and military personnel. Brain Russell, Zephyr’s CEO says, “The OnmiSense platform goes well beyond simple heart rate monitoring, to allow contextually relevant vital sign analysis and display so athletes can train to peak performance levels while avoiding heat stress and dehydration which can cause severe injury.” The core of the technology was developed for military and first responder personnel working in extreme environments.
“This technology delivers a new level of visibility for sports and fitness training, monitoring family members living in nursing homes or remote cities...it is like having Facebook for your vital signs,” says Code Cubitt, COO. Zephyr’s SDK makes this technology available to mobile app developers on the most popular operating systems.
